Mette Damgaard is Senior Consultant at Eurofins Product Testing. She has worked within the field of Food Contact Materials for 13 years and has a great experience in advising customers to obtain the full documentation for their products – not only by testing, but also by grouping products, conducting calculations and in general setting up the most cost efficient test program. She offers tailor made trainings for companies to ensure that everybody is fully aware of their responsibilities and has the appropriate knowledge to fulfil their obligations.

Food Contact Materials – ensuring compliance for biobased/recycled materials

The Single Use Plastic Regulation that came into force in 2019 prohibits the marketing of various food contact materials made of plastic. As a response to this ban the industry has started using alternative materials with focus on recycling and the use of natural/biobased materials. This lecture gives an overview of the legislative requirements that must be met to ensure human health and gives input to which considerations should be made when using alternatives to plastic.

Förordningen om engångsplast som trädde i kraft 2019 förbjuder marknadsföringen av olika livsmedelskontaktmaterial tillverkade av plast. Som ett svar på detta förbud har industrin börjat använda alternativa material med fokus på återvinning och användning av naturliga/biobaserade material. Denna föreläsning ger en översikt över de lagstiftningskrav som måste uppfyllas för att säkerställa mänsklig hälsa och ger input till vilka överväganden som bör göras vid användning av alternativ till plast.
