Scanpack starts tomorrow!
Finally – a year later than originally planned – northern Europe’s largest event for the packaging industry is about to get under way at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. Innovative solutions for a sustainable future are in focus, as well as the acute energy crisis currently being experienced by many businesses.
Scanpack 2022, which takes place on 4–7 October at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, gathers more than 400 exhibitors from 22 countries and features a selection of high-profile speakers. The event was originally due to take place a year ago but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
“We perceive an enormous level of interest and excitement among both exhibitors and visitors, with many people really looking forward to the event. This year’s exhibition has an unusually broad spectrum, reflecting the entire value chain from raw materials to finished products, and illustrating the role of packaging in relation to the circular economy, recycling and sustainable development”, says Anna Lena Friberg, Business Manager for Scanpack.
The exhibitors represent all segments of the packaging industry, from materials to packaging machinery and digital tools. This year’s list of exhibitors includes leading companies such as DS Smith, ABB and Smurfit Kappa, as well as smaller startups such as Liplid, whose journey of innovation has led to their cup lid being named the world’s best lid.
The programme of activities on Scanpack’s various stages features no less than 120 seminar topics: the Superbrand stage will play host to seminars on operational and business-related issues, while the Tech stage features seminars focused on technological development and digitalisation.
This year’s participants include Alex Henriksen, Managing Director of Tetra Pak North Europe, and Oscar Lingqvist, Senior Partner at McKinsey. Another highly relevant speaker, given current developments, is Christian Kopfer, Raw Materials Analyst at Handelsbanken, with focus on the prevailing electricity and energy crisis.
One of this year’s new initiatives is Scanpack Pioneers, an arena with focus on innovation and business development. Participants at Scanpack Pioneers include Billerud, Stora Enso, RISE and the Nordic Bioplastics Association.
Scanpack is being arranged in conjunction with Scanpack Summit, a one-day conference focused on strategic and visionary issues. The programme for Scanpack Summit includes Eef de Ferrante from the international industry association AIPIA; Mona Arnold, Principal Scientist at Finnish VTT Technical Research; Annette Lendal, circular economy expert at Lab21st; and Märtha Rehnberg, political economist and tech futurist.
